Complaints Procedure

Craig Laverty

Craig is a litigation and arbitration lawyer with experience of fraud and complex asset recovery actions. He has acted for a Premier League footballer in a dispute with their management agent and he has worked for companies in the financial services sector. Craig is also a qualified mediator and a Chartered Arbitrator.

Alius Law is committed to providing a high quality of service in all respects, however, if at any point you have queries or concerns about any aspect of your matter (including a bill) then please do not hesitate to contact the Partner working on your matter. We will do our best to resolve any problems within a reasonable time frame. Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your case.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint ourselves, the Legal Ombudsman can look at your complaint independently. Before commencing an investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. The Legal Ombudsman expects complaints to be made to them within one year of the date of the act or omission about which you are concerned or within one year of you realising there was a concern. You must also refer your concerns to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of our final response to you. For more information you can contact the Legal Ombudsman: www.legalombudsman.org.uk.

Ben Drew is an expert in handling disputes involving financial distress, insolvency and fraud with a focus on the financial services sector. Rachel Bond

Rachel Bond

Rachel’s academic background in both law and science informs her approach to cross-jurisdictional commercial litigation and software disputes. Rachel has advised on complex and technical claims, including in a dispute arising from a venture to develop mines in Mozambique. Rachel has also worked on the team that brought a fraud claim in Switzerland against a partner of a joint-venture set up for the purpose of high value art sales. At present, Rachel is acting on a case in the Technology and Construction Court in relation to the development of a functional system to deal with cryptocurrency in the online gambling industry.

JOHN FORD

REECE DAVISON

Reece Davison is dual qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and an attorney in New York. Reece is an aviation leasing and finance disputes specialist and regularly advises aircraft lessors on all manner of complex cross border disputes, including in relation to: return conditions; aircraft and engine repossession; rent; MRO disputes; supply chain issues; financing documents, aircraft/fleet purchase agreements; and aircraft conversion contracts. Reece also advises on other commercial disputes and has recently: acted for a global logistics company on a sale of goods dispute; advised on potentially fraudulent transactions in the context of insolvency; advised a company on its transactions with a longstanding customer that entered administration; and acted for a high net worth individual in respect of a multijurisdictional fraud case. Reece’s practice spans from advising clients on how to avoid disputes all the way to trial (and beyond). Reece has a lot of experience with cases in the High Court and arbitrations under various arbitral institutions, including the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

BREE TAYLOR

Bree is a leading expert in large scale complex commercial disputes with over 20 years experience as a commercial litigator and insolvency specialist.  Bree has acted in some of the most high-profile fraud and company cases of recent years and has successfully defended numerous companies and company directors from lawsuits and regulatory action.  Bree recently acted for a manufacturer of PPE in a claim against the NHS in relation to a public procurement process.  She successfully defended a well known retailer from claims of anti-competitive conduct in the Competition Appeals Tribunal.

Bree heads up the firm’s Aviation Disputes practice and has been involved in most of the leading cases in recent years, achieving successful outcomes for owners/lessors.  Bree led the team that successfully struck out a claim brought by a well-known Indian airline against an aircraft leasing company and obtained a judgment for another aircraft leasing company against an airline based in Saudi Arabia.   She is regularly instructed to give second opinions on existing cases, take over the conduct of cases from other lawyers or to carry out negotiations on behalf of parties involved in high-value confidential legal disputes.
